Polyurea as a corrosion protection system
Corrosion is enemy number one for any industrial facility containing iron, steel,
or exposed metals. In Israel — with its hot climate, high humidity, and proximity to the sea —
rust forms exceptionally quickly. The economic damage to Israeli industry from corrosion is estimated
in billions of shekels annually.
A polyurea-based corrosion protection system is today’s most effective industrial solution. It
creates a hermetic barrier between the metal and the environment — water, oxygen, salt-laden
air, acids, and industrial chemicals can’t reach the metal, so the corrosion process stops
completely.
Facilities we treat
- Industrial piping — water, gas, fuels, chemicals
- Steel tanks and reservoirs — fuel, ammonia, acids
- Steel structures — bridge frames, pressure vessels, stacks
- Wellheads and underground piping
- Sheet-metal and iskurit roofing — especially in agricultural and heavy industry
- Platforms, cranes, and port equipment — saltwater exposure
The protection system, stage by stage
- Substrate preparation — sandblasting to Sa 2.5 standard or UHP water cleaning at
pressures up to 2,500 bar. Goal: remove all rust, old coating, and contamination, exposing clean
roughened metal.
- Anti-corrosion primer — a thin first layer creating an active chemical barrier
against rust.
- Polyurea — the main layer at 2–4 mm thickness. Continuous, elastic,
hermetically impermeable.
- UV topcoat — a finishing layer that shields from sunlight and preserves color
over the years.
